MDMI Technologies Inc. (MDMI) was founded in 1998 to pursue Medical
Devices that are Minimally Invasive
– hence MDMI. After establishing a facility in Richmond BC, the company
proceeded to not only develop several product ideas, but also expand its general
operational and technical capabilities. These efforts have led to an initial
three-tiered businesses platform focusing on opportunities in Women’s
Healthcare, Vascular, and Contract Services.
Women’s Health Care – A promising market for minimally
invasive devices that is expected to grow substantially on a worldwide basis.
The company’s initial product offering, the Thermablate EAS, is an endometrial
ablation device to treat excessive uterine bleeding, a condition that afflicts
millions of women worldwide.
Vascular Systems - Historically the largest market for minimally
invasive devices. This market has a propensity for major technical advances
that typically rely on the kind of catheter knowledge the company possesses.
The company’s initial product offering are the Pathfinder and Hummingbird
PTCA catheters.
Contract Services – Capitalizing on its cost and regulatory
advantages relative to the US, as well as its unique technical capabilities
in the BC area, the company now offers both Contract Manufacturing and Professional
Services consulting.
